Key Points to Note
- This scheme allows certain non-EEA nationals to apply to join their UK national family members in Ireland. However, it’s important to remember that there is no automatic entitlement to family reunification.
- From 11pm on 31 December 2020, following the end of the Brexit transition period, all applications must go through either a preclearance or visa scheme, based on your nationality.
- The Preclearance Scheme applies to non-EEA nationals looking to join a UK national who has moved to Ireland after the transition period.
- For UK nationals residing in Ireland on or before the specified date, and their eligible non-EEA family members, rights under the Withdrawal Agreement apply.
